Assateague Island
Assateague Island is home to the most beautiful wildlife and ocean views on the Eastern Shore. Explorable on foot, bike, by kayak, or in your car, there is no shortage of beautiful views on the island.
The Assateague Lighthouse is a staple of the island. Since 1867, the lighthouse has been a beacon to Chincoteague and Assateague.

Chincoteague Seafood Festival
The Chincoteague Seafood Festival is an annual spring tradition held to promote the seafood industry on Virginia's Eastern Shore. It offers fresh, local seafood and will include exciting offerings and signature dishes from local restaurants as well as old and new Eastern Shore favorites prepared by famous festival cooks, volunteers, and professionals.
Indulge on little neck clams, a long-time festival staple, along with raw oysters and clams, clam fritters and strips, single fried oysters, fried fish, steamed shrimp, clam chowder, appetizers, salad bar, grilled chicken, sweet potato fries, Boardwalk fries, hush puppies, and cornbread.

Downtown
Ponies and Pony Swim
Come see the famous Chincoteague ponies and the Saltwater Cowboys year-round on Assateague. Join us during the last week of July for Pony Penning to see events such as the Beach Walk, the Round Up, the auction, and the famous Pony Swim!
Monday of Pony Penning week brings us the Beach Walk where the North Herd is walked down to meet the South Herd in the South Corral.
