Island Community House
Island Community House was founded in 2019 to provide a place where members of the community can meet to fulfill their need for social, emotional, physical, and intellectual enrichment.
To fulfill this mission, the non-profit Island Community House provides space for classes, meetings, clubs, private events, and community gatherings. There is a special emphasis on programs for the elderly.
A full-time Director organizes activities including art classes for children, adult yoga classes, dance classes, art exhibits, and monthly senior luncheons, among others.
A large open space, a fully certified commercial kitchen, 6 private parking spaces, handicapped accessibility, and a convenient downtown location also make the Island Community House an ideal place to rent. Please call for more information on our programs and rental availability.
The Island Community House is also home to the Village Neighbors program, which is part of a growing national movement dedicated to helping older adults maintain active, independent lifestyles in the place we call home. It is a volunteer-driven membership organization that couples old-fashioned neighborliness with modern know-how to provide important services and enhance quality of life. The Village Model is an innovative, cost effective community based solution that improves quality of life and expands choices at all stages of aging.
