Decoy Carvers

Decoy Carver

Meet the 2010 People's Choice for Best Carver William Cowen

William Cowen began carving birds in 1986.  His first four birds were self taught.  In 1988 Bill met National champion George Walker who would become his mentor.  The carving emerges as the Tupelo wood is cut and shaped with hand tools.  Through the use of color, the bird comes to life.  Bill's bird carving is an extension of his philosophy that nature brings us back to the essence of our being and is something that should be treasured.  Visit www.billcowen.com to find out more about this very talented carver from Browns Mills NJ.  We are proud to have had Bill at our Easter Decoy Show for many years.

Ribbon Wood Carver

2010 Curtis Merritt Award Winner Billy Crockett

This Eastern Shore of Virginia native has been carving since his youth.  He loves the outdoors, the Chesapeake Bay and its wildlife.  Billy is a world renowned carver and his miniatures are quite collectible.  The Curtis Merritt award is given to the artist or carver who represents the best ideals in their art and in life.  The recipient is chosen by the exhibitors.

Decoy carvers from Pennsylvania, New York, North Carolina, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia attend the Easter  show.  From rustic working decoys to finely detailed workmanship--it's all here.  Come see the carvers at work.
